Drummer, percussionist John Valadez Jr., received his first drum kit at around the age of 3 and has had a devotion for music ever since. As a self-taught drummer, it was his love of latin and rock music that built the foundation of his playing. From there, watching, listening and learning from other drummers of all genres spanning from cumbia, tejano, latin rock to alternative rock & country has allowed for many opportunities over the years.
Whether on stage or in the studio, the challenge of playing what feels right for the song is what continues to help develop his approach and adaptability as a musician.
Over the years, Johns' experiences have ranged from playing local bars and House of Blues type of venues to touring South America, North America and Canada. His recent tour artist is known as “Dovel V,” which is a reggaeton and latin rock infused style of music.
Valadez's experience in the music industry has been much more than sitting behind a drum kit. From working at music academy’s to setting up live gear as a road-hand in live events, Valadez has gained helpful insight into the business side of things. John accepts and acknowledges the amount of work it takes to be a successful independent musician.
Currently residing in Houston, TX, John plays regularly at local venues & festivals and picks up a variety of gigs along the way. He is now the drummer for Dovle V. and offers custom drum tracks to producers and musicians from around the world. Valadez is also working on two new books and a drum video coming in December of 2022.In addition to music, Valadez is likely spending time with his wife and 2 dogs, making drum content, watching his wife play video games, watching movies or going on a trail ride.
